History
In 1983 God burdened Pastor James Wright to start an Independent Baptist Church. The Lord directed him to meet in a small building that was once a pizza shop on Ferrara St in New Lexington Ohio. Then just one year later, the Free Methodist Church building on Broadway St was up for sale. It was then that this little body of believers purchased the building.
Changes were made and the church became what is now Cornerstone Independent Baptist Church.
In 1989, Pastor Larry Ruh was called by our Lord to become the new Pastor. Through Pastor Larry’s following of God and the Holy Spirit, this small group grew and became a well needed outreach to share the gospel of grace the community, to Perry county, and to the surrounding counties. Pastor Larry Ruh served faithfully for 28 as Pastor until our great God called him home to that wonderful place called heaven in 2017.
It was then that Pastor Randy Foust followed the Lord’s call to relocate from a small town in western Ohio and accepted the call in the spring of 2019 to Pastor Cornerstone Baptist. Pastor Randy has served in many different capacities in the ministry before coming to New Lexington and is excited for what God has in store for the future of this wonderful work in rural Ohio.
